It is well documented that brands that increase advertising during a recession, when competitors are cutting back, can improve market share and return on investment at lower cost than during good economic times. Uncertain consumers need the reassurance of known brands.

ABOUT THE EVENT....

The newest entry on the Nike International Junior Tournament circuit takes the qualifying challenge off the European mainland to the United Kingdom. The Barking Abbey Academy Euroleague Basketball Junior Classification Tournament will be held February 18th to 20th in the northeast London suburb of Dagenham.

This new tournament, to be played entirely at the Goresbrook Leisure Centre in Dagenham, has already attracted a truly international cast of talent, with eight teams from eight countries joining the hosts, Barking Academy. One of those teams, Union Olimpija of Slovenia, reached last year's final round in Berlin, too.

The other visitors to London in mid-February will be USK Future Stars Prague of the Czech Republic, Khimki Moscow Region of Russia, Kyiv of Ukrain, Lauretana Biella of Italy, Le Mans Sarthe Basket of France, Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv of Israel and Zadar of Croatia.

On May 9, 2010 a new champion will be crowned at the Palais Omnisports de Paris Bercy merely hours before the two best teams in Europe take the same court for the final game in the Euroleague Basketball Final Four. The winner in Paris will not only be crowned as the new European junior champions, but will also qualify for next summer's 2010 Nike Global Challenge tournament in Portland, Oregon, U.S.A.
